I think the tendency to “friend” other libraries and librarians is that fact that the library knows who they are. They are participating in their social circle which naturally includes libraries and librarians. We should target our patrons. However, it is very difficult to find patrons online that are local. Many may not provide information about their home city in their profile. It takes a bit more work to do so.
