Thanks for the tip! If you end up starting a knitting needle collection, let me know. I’m also a knitter, I started on straight needles but have since switched to circulars and I’d be happy to pass along straight needles.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up – I almost feel like I am at PLA. I have a serious gang of knitsters in Boxford – that knitting needle idea might be a big hit. It also likely wouldn’t take up much room.

@Marianne: you're welcome. Codman Farm in Lincoln is also considering starting one, so they might be a resource. Another idea was to start a knitting needle collection - I'm going to lobby for that in Chelmsford. If you can get a Lowell seed library going, please let me know.

Thanks so much for sharing this information! I am a trustee at the Pollard in Lowell and I have been following your blog for awhile. For my day job I am working on a Community Food Assessment for the City of Lowell and I love the idea of having a seed library available. It’s something I never would have thought of but seem like it could be a great success.
