@Dorene: how funny – unfortunately, I have no memory of her (at least her name – I do have a memory of being read to by someone, which could either be library or school).

@Sam: some of my friends’ parents still live there too – it’s nice to know “the old neighborhood” is still doing well.

Hi Brian, I’m a new reader but I realized we are from the same hometown! And, I grew up on Hinde Lane! Small world. I work at Worthington Librarias in Columbus.

@Angelica: That sounds like the best prize of all. And, I certainly don’t remember these, so without them I never would have known the Sandusky Library had summer reading programs when I was little.

That Millions of Cats mascot kitty looks like it’s enjoyed way too much catnip. And I swear that my public library never had a summer reading program or if it did, my mom never registered me for it. I DID however, win my class’ reading contest and the grand prize was to read aloud to the principal. Really.

@Jenne: I haven’t read the The Funny Bunny Factory probably since that summer – and sadly, no nearby libraries have it.

And no, no ALA for me this year. I went to PLA, which was my one big trip. If you’re going, I hope you have a great time.

The Funny Bunny Factory! I used to read that every time I went to visit my grandma. Found it again recently at my parents’ house and was amazed how cool and sort of creepy it is.

Adorable! This brings back memories. Now I want to dig through my stuff and see if I can find my old summer reading logs; all I remember is that I always read way more books than there were spaces on the record to write them in.
