@Stephanie: I completely agree – different tools for different purposes, and not everything has to be a competition.

@Deb: I like “reading as the national past time” – maybe the ALA could get behind it.

@Arusso: I saw some sources listed at the bottom of the infographic, but I didn’t view them all the verify the numbers.

I believe that this “infographic” does not follow the standards of being “librarian approved.” I looked further into the website (http://www.teachingdegree.org/about/) and found that the site does not cite or provide any of its findings; even though numbers provided are interesting. Therefore I declare “this infographic” an unreliable source.

I think they can and will. I blogged about the infographic and some of the stats over at Nocturnal Librarian, where I ask, should reading be the new national past time? (it polls higher than baseball)
