Reference Question of the Week – 4/18/10

   April 24th, 2010

Sam Malone from CheersAt first this struck me as funny, but then I found it sad. In the end, I decided to file it under "good decision."

The phone rings:

Patron: Do you have a fax machine? I need to fax something to my lawyer.

Me: Yes.

Patron: Well, okay. What time do you open in the morning? I've already got a couple beers in me.

This was at 5:15 p.m. on a Wednesday.

It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere. At least they had the decency to stay home. I usually get to smell the drenched in smell of alcohol wafting around me when they come talk to me.

  2. Elizabeth Bowman Says:

I had a student come to the reference desk recently, fairly high on something. He formed his question well but then said (pointing at a companion) “Can you give the answer to my friend?” I guess he knew, somewhere in there, he wouldn’t remember what I answered. Sigh.
